With the strategy of increasing its market share, WEG announces new investments for the expansion and modernization of the production capacity of Balteau, a company of the WEG group specialized in the manufacture of instrument transformers and measuring sets. , in Itajubá, State of Minas Gerais, Brazil.

According to WEG Transmission & Distribution Managing Director Carlos Diether Prinz, this investment is an important competitive advantage for the company in the transmission and distribution (T&D) segment.

“At the end of this project, we will achieve a significant increase in the production capacity of our current and voltage transformers from 72kV to 245kV. We also intend to double the production of the 550kV current transformer line and to enlarge the assembly areas, insulation room, warehouse and shipping”, explains the manager.

With the new investments, WEG intends to expand its Itajubá factory by 1350 m2 and equip the area with modern winding, insulation, processing and drying equipment for high-voltage instrument transformers. tension. The expansion will generate around fifty new jobs.

The Balteau factory was acquired by WEG in September 2021 and currently has 11,800 m² of built area and counts with a team of more than 400 employees. The company specializes in the design, manufacture, electrical testing and technical assistance of capacitive current and voltage transformers up to 550kV, inductive voltage transformers up to 145kV and measurement sets up to at 36kV.
