Directs early completion, proper maintenance
ANANTNAG: Kashmir Tourism Director, Dr. GN Itoo, today paid an in-depth visit to the South Kashmir regions of Anantnag, Kulgam, Qazigund and other areas and made a detailed assessment of the works in courses and offered on tourism department assets and facilities.
Dr Itoo visited the under construction tourist welcome center, Anantnag under construction in Harnag and did an on-site review of the progress of the works by the engineers of the executing agency. It was informed that the TRC, Anantnag upon completion would have a Tourism Facilitation Center, Welcome Center, community halls, workstations for Tourism Department officers in addition to display counters.
The tourism manager has asked the engineers to complete the balance work in double shifts so that the facility is open for the facilitation of tourists. He also directed the immediate landscaping and lighting of the complex.
Later, Dr Itoo, accompanied by a team of officers and engineers from the Department of Tourism, visited Qazigund and inspected the proposed site of the Tourism Facilitation Center in Wangund, near the newly constructed tunnel on NH-44 . He inspected the stretch of land for the TFC being set up for the facilitation of tourists.
The proposed TFC should have information counters, public amenities, rest and green spaces and other facilities. He ordered relevant officials to properly demarcate the land so that the project can be implemented at the earliest.
While interacting with locals and officers, Dr Itoo said the department is working to further improve the tourist facilities in the district for the convenience of visitors.
The Director of Tourism also visited the famous tourist resort of Verinag and inspected the maintenance works being undertaken at various assets in the department. He directed the proper upkeep and maintenance of assets.
Later, Dr. Itoo visited Kulgam district and inspected various assets and works of the Department undertaken in many of them.
The director of tourism was accompanied by Deputy Director of Tourism, Kashmir, Ahsanul Haq Chishti, officers and engineers from the department of tourism and other officers from the district administration.
